Hi everyone! Quick question here... When you swap wheels and tires on an e60, lets say for other stock BMW wheels, will it effect any monitoring system for tire pressure within iDrive? I know you need to have those sensors behind the valves installed, but if you purchase wheels stock or no stock, can it still be used or will it be deemed unuseful after any change? Anyone swapped wheelsand experience this?

Also, does anyone know if the 530xi will have the same offset as a 530i?

No sensors required. Based on comparing relative rotational speeds of tires to each other. Recalibration only after size or significant pressure change.

I know nothing about offsets for 530i or variants

Is this because of the new mandate in the US? Does the BMW FTM comply with the mandate?

Cool, Thanks so much! Is recalibration done automatically, through the service center, or yourself? I would probably end up going from the stock 17" wheels to the style 128 19" wheels. Think iDrive will give off warning sounds?

You can reinitialize the sensors yourself using the iDrive system. You can do it as often as you like, just be sure that the pressures are all where you want them to be before doing so.

I'd reinitialize the system any time I changed wheels or tires, regardless of whether or not the sizes changed...

Ultra, the mandate has been coming for some time now so yes, BMW's system complies with it. They way they implemented it, they used existing sensors so all they had to do to include it was modify software. Offering runflat tires also made it a neccessary option.

Soon, I'll bet you'll see BMW upgrade to using individual transponders in each wheel so they can provide exact readout of the tire pressures (like my wife's Honda can do...)

Hi NES:

I changed from the 17inch 138's to the 18 inch rims (BMW OEM 71's), and mine works fine I suppose because my BMW dealer did all the work. (on my last 18 Parallel M rims and independent did it, and I had to do the my iDrive FTM myself, which was no problem at all, like Rudy said: "You can do it as often as you like")

I wish you the best!
