Hello all. I have a quick question. I recently noticed a very slight shimmy in my car in the steering wheel at speeds greater than 70mph...feels like the balance is suddenly off. I've had the car for a year and have never had it balanced etc. Do you guys recommend balancing at dealers only or has anyone done this at other outside places...high speed balance or regular. I've always done it at private tire shops with the other cars ive owned but this car is so complicated i feel like i should just have the dealer do it...thanks in advance for the input

i do it in aftermarket place. it just a matter of finding honest place, sometimes they can do balancing even better then a dealer.
and it's normal to do the balancing once in a while, it does go off sometimes. hope you didn't bend you rim though cause that might cause it too

I was wondering the same thing. im trying to remember any major potholes but cant recall. Did you have the regular balancing or high speed balancing where they do it while on the car (I think thats how they do it...either way, the more expensive one aimed at high performance cars)? Thanks again

Go here: Hunter Engineering
and find a shop in your area. Many dealers use Hunter equipment as do many independents. A finer balance you will not be able to get.

Just go to a shop in your area that alot of E60 members have dealt with. Remember, its only a portion of how good the equipment is but its mainly how good the tech is.
