Following a previous thread about my steering wheel looking off centre when travelling in a straight line, I took the car back to the dealer today. The service manager, who was very helpful, said that they get quite a few cars with the steering slightly off centre depending on customer perception. He said that the wheel is set straight ahead by a person in the factory whilst another person works under the car, so it depends on how the person setting the wheel to straight ahead determines the straight ahead position, if you know what I mean!!..

Anyway as it is only slightly out (being exagerated by the indicator stalk being higher than the wiper stalk) his advise was to leave alone as the factory equipment is even better than the BMW dealer equipment and it's best not to mess with a newish car that has not been knocked / damaged. Also the road camber as previously suggested can make a difference to the wheel position.

BMW allows tracking to be adjusted as a warranty claim in the first 12months or 15,000 miles of a cars life, so if anyone has any issues make sure you go to the dealer before these deadlines.

I have decided to leave mine alone, tyres are all wearing even after 8000miles
