OK,
I took my baby in to service for the first time (3 months old) cause the brake light and a cirlce with a triangle light came on this past weekend.

It has taken bmw 3 days to fing out what the problem was and now they are saying its the SZL Module that needs to be replaced. Unfortunatley they dont have thsi part in stock so i have to wait till next week for them to get it in and then he said its a 2-3 day job to replace it.

What is this modue they are talkign about?

does it really take that long to replace?

Join the club. There are a lot of 2006 and 2007, regardless of model, having the same exact problem you are experiencing.

Yup ... steering angle sensor. Common problem. Others have had it replaced recently.

If it is 2 or 3 days you need to count your blessings, my friend. Mine took close to three weeks start to finish as the part itself was (and I believe still is) on national back order. It is your steering angle sensor that has failed. Keep us posted!

My car was in the dealer for a week, basically waiting for the part.
Once it's in, it only takes a few hours to install it (according to dealer).

That's right, I get the sense it's an easy part to fit, it's just that no-one has the part available!

Getting the part can be tough right now. They are in very short supply. It does not take long to install the part, but then the computer has to be reloaded and this can take several hours to a day and a half, depending upon what, if any, problems arise in reloading indiviual program modules. My car just had this issue resolved yesterday. I got very lucky on getting an SZL module. The computer update went smoothly wth only one hiccup. I now have CIP Ver. 22.0. Now I have to go through several of the set-up features to get things back to normal (personalized) again. Nav destinations are gone, had to re-activate Bluetooth (now running fine), all my radio presets are gone. At least my garage door opener still is functional.

My M Aero Tech Kit looks fabulous. Tomorrow my neighbor is helping me swap out my wheels & tires to Style 166M with Michelin PS2s. At the moment the Style 125Ms now in place look pretty good, but I have a buyer waiting patiently for them. Pics to follow in a day or so.

Interesting. I am not sure if my dealer reinstalled software for it because there is nothing to indicate so on the receipt. After the repair, all of my settings remain intact. I did not have to reconfigure anything.
