I am reading thru this post because I just found a leak at my coolant sensor coming from the return hose.
It looks like it is coming from the top of the sensor, does that sound like the O-ring and if so how easy is the fix?
I am also reading that these cars have quick disconnect hoses? with o-rings? is this correct? Last car was an e39 540. Haven't really had to do much to my 2005 545 (yet)
I guess at 110,000 the fun is about to begin..
Thanks

I've had to replace the sensor, the hose the sensor plugs into, the vent pipe, AND the coolant tank in the last month. One at a time, too. I have 59K. At least now it's not leaking anymore. I used to think the E60 cooling system was better than the E39s, but looks like it's only the radiator that's been improved on.

I did the repair devildawg shows in his post, only repairing the driver side connection. I used three 1/4 inch clamps, a 1/4 hose to hose connector, and about 3 inches of 1/4 hose. I'll be ordering the replacement part but after the test drive, its all dry up there still.
