In my line of work, it is wise to drive a car that says money and status. I'm 35 and personally convinced that the only M3 that does that for a professional my age is the vert.
Wait whats your line of work? Vert?? What about an M5?

My Ride: 2008 535i M package

K&N air filter
matte black grills
M5 spoiler
dinan stage 2
after reading some post and being a huge bimmer fan this is all i can say...
i was going to get a 335 almost 2 years ago but the deal went sour (long story) and i got a 2007 530
after a year i got hit by a trailer on the highway and it totaled my car so i needed to get a new one
the choice was now between an m3 or a 535
i didnt even hesitate because even as a 21 year old i cold say that the m3 is a little kids car and the 5 series is a ballers car
m3 is not even that cool, it would be if it had the real M engine (i hate mercedes but they know what they did) bmw should have put the m5 and m6 engine in the m3 as well just like mercedes did with the c63
technically the m3 is like gettin a 550
and when you put it that way, it comes down to what would oyu rather have a 3 series or 5
and anyone could answer that question... 5
not to be a hater but the new m3 is stupid and almost the same as a 335

I agree with you that for my needs, I would never consider a 3. But if I were in my 20's again (wouldn't that be great ) I would go for the M3.

My Ride: 2007 530i Olivine Green w/ Beige leather interior, 6 spd manual, premium package, comfort access, cold weather package, heated rear seats.
2005 Acura MDX Touring Sage Brush Pearl w/ NAV, running boards, roof rack
1993 325is Calypso Red w/ Parchment leather interior, 5 spd manual. (Sold Nov 06)
The 550i for sure. It's more practical and has all the power I'd ever need. Plus, I prefer the 5 series design.

Funny you should ask. I have a client who used to live in South Florida, when she did, she drove a Rolls Royce Corniche convertible. She actually kept a jar of Grey Poupon mustard her glove box to deal with the hundreds of requests she got at stoplights asking if she had any Grey Poupon. She told me that when she would whip out the Grey Poupon, the questioner's jaw would usually drop open. She got a huge kick out of it.

My vote: M3 if u have no kids...550 if you do
agreed!
....do you need a back seat?
Yes => 550
No => M3
I have 3 boys.....no chance of a 3er for me....my next one is gonna be a M5 (but I will have to look real close at the X6)
