OK. I had many sleepless nights before deciding on ordering the SMG for my 07' 550i. I would like to see what transmission people are using. I am not looking for M owners but rather people who drive non-model 5 series. What non-M 5 series transmission do you have?

I share Chrishei's point. My wife drives the care and needs the automatic. If it were up to me however I would have gone with the SMG. But the steptronic is pretty good and you can always put it in manual mode eventhough its not quite like the real thing.

other people use my car so step is my only option..but its very practical, and smooth...i bet SMGs and Manuals are more fun though. with a good driver, in a wheel of an SMG or maual i think they should be faster, although this isnt always the case??..
Would go for auto again...
