I know this might sound idiotic but I seriously need some good argument?s here.
I have driven many convertibles and can surely see the thinking there but I have never had a car with sunroof. As I?m pondering options (and being a certified gadget freak) for a new E61 on orderI have to admit that the panoramic sunroof seems like a tempting option but also I have to say that I don?t really know what sort of emotional or practical use this thing have. Since it certainly not come for free and resources are already strained + I find arguments like - a brighter more "airy" interior feel, "you can see the stars at night" - a bit vague - I would like to hear what experienced sunroof owners feel are the major benefits. Need to convince both my wife and myself. (We have two girls (4 and 7) and they say it?s a nobrainer as it is absolutely needed to cool off thier hands, waving in parades, being able to have a rain come into the car if they are thirsty etc.)

the open air feel of the sun roof on top is really nice in a sedan, especially when the A/C is on creating and temperate zone between the head and body.
i love the 'tilt' function in winter when it is snowing and the cabin is beautifully heated, especially in the evening.
the glass roof (moon roof) is wonderful when you are driving in the rain at night.
this feel of a 'green house' is very different to a convertible and can be enjoyed all seasons of the year.
not to mention the cabin is cleaner than in a convertible.

The girls have it figured out. If you don't experience any euphoria from the rush of air, forget it.

I find that having a glass roof which makes the interior brighter, means that you can go with a darker coloured tone for your interior. This was the main reason I went with truffle brown instead of beige

i hv a sun roof n i luv it. its more than being brighter....the interior just became a better place to be in.. it feels like take a walk from ur living room to the balcony. makes the car more accomodative than it already is.

It's reputed to mess up resale value if you don't have one.

Pretty much all my cars have had sunroofs/moonroofs, but I pretty much never use them.

I read an interesting thread about buying an e39 without a sunroof. Someone replied that the car without the sunroof would be lighter, have more headroom and overall be more rigid.

Even though I don't really have the need for a sunroof, I'd still put a check next to it on the option list. I mean, I don't really use my windows either, but wouldn't want to do without them either.

The sunroof is great on a hot day when your waiting for you car to cool down. Here is florida its especially nice. You can drive areound the beach A-1-A with the windows down and sunroof open lighting up the entire car. I gues the roof is personal preerence

any one of them makes it worth the money... re-sale also speaks alot...

all of my cars since '86 have had glass moonroofs (incl. my Nissan Patrol in those desert years) and to me it is not an option it is a requirement
