What is this other "plug" on my transmission?
Apologies for this question in advance but I have searched high and low for an answer and come up dry. I have read numerous posts and looked at countless diagrams. I cannot find the answer in the Bentley manual either. This other "plug" as I call it, is on the passenger side of the transmission and at the back corner. What follows is not necessarily relevant but explains how I came across it and what transpired:
Before I located "that" plug, I had read about and located the fill plug on the driver's side at the back. Since it was hard to get to and I hadn't the the tool for it, (not to mention not having new bolts to replace the rounded ones i discovered and did not want to try and reuse fastening the driveshaft), I decided to forego the drain and fill job until this weekend. Before crawling back out from under the car is when I noticed the other plug. Curiosity got the best of me and I happened to have the right torx within reach, so I cranked it off and out spewed what appeared to be thin, dark transmission fluid. I was able to quickly refasten it before losing only a couple tablespoons worth.
It's been shifting the same so I suppose no harm done minus the delay on replacing the old, nasty fluid (do not know history). Considering the delay and the fluid seemed somewhat old, I will probably get a filter, pan, and bolts too. But the thought lingers about this 3rd "plug." I was thinking it might be another port for flushing out old fluid (?). If that's not it, can someone "fill me in" on what its for? It's on a 2006 525xi and transmission is the GA6HP19Z. Sorry i do not have pics but as I mentioned in the first paragraph, it's on the back corner of the transmission and just above the pan.
Thanks

Not the sealing sleeve. You need to drop your pan and pull on a lever to release it. Also, it does not take a torx bit to remove. Sealing sleeve will have a wire harness connected to it.

If it is on the far back of the transmission near your sealing sleeve that is for you to fill from if you have awd since the normal service port is 1” from the front driveshaft. It’s a hoot to get a hose in since it is right between the Transfer case and the trans. Also threading it it a blast as well.
