Thumbs up

I am a little confused. In the Information section of this website, the new Magnesium block engine in the 523i, 525i and 530i is referred to as N52. However I have seen other people referring to it as the R6. To confuse matters even further my car, a 523i, has the engine serial number ending with N52B25AE and not N52B23AE as I would expect if I go according to the information on this website.

Zag,

Thanks. Very interesting website. The main difference that I can find between the 523i and 525i is the Intake Manifold and ECU. I am still looking through the numerous bits!!

You can't order from there (yet, anyway). For now, it's just a repository of BMW part numbers and dealer costs.

The most interesting thing I found on RealOEM is that the part number for a complete engine for the 523i & 525i are the same. The only difference between the 2 models I can see is the ECU! Gets me thinking about recovering the 40hp by using the 525i ECU! Anyone tried it or know reasons this would not work?
