The 5 as it has all the toys like Panoramic roof, heads up display and generally handles as good as the 3 series but with more space and a nicer place to be.
Also they don't do a fast enough 3 yet, would be tempted to look again when the 335i, 335d or M3 arrives.
The 330i is nice, but not quite quick enough and the 330d is OK but feels lathargic compared with a remapped 535d. If the 3 had felt more chuckable than the 5 it would change things but it doesn't, a sport 5 with non run flats feels just as nimble as the sport 3.
Only reason I can think to get a 3 is if you don't want to spend the extra.

The 3 is just plain ugly, especially the tail...
I think it looks alright with the blacklines, just the standard lights that look messy.

My Ride: 520d F10, Sport Auto, Black, sun protection, Oyster/Black with Anthracite, Ambient lighting.
Value for money, paid less than 2k more for a new 5 over a new 3 to the same spec!

This.
I love the E90 330, but it was just too small.
I have two of these little things, and their feet hit the seats in an E90...

Better looking and 535d performance.
First option was a 330i but went for the 535d instead.
Space for me wans't a factor and i couldn't have gone for the m3 because i knew the new one would be just around the corner. Next one for sure will be smaller and nimbler, and hope i'll get the new m3 or a pwerfull petrol engine...unless bmw does it again (545d, 550d?) and turns it all the other way around.
