What brand of oil do you use when doing oil changes on your own (or from your local mechanic...not BMW)? Just curious to know what brands people use...

5W-30 and LL04 is a must.
But it can be BMW (Castrol), Shell or Mobil1.
I have now, after my first oil change, Shell Helix Ultra AP 5W-30.

By the way, on the latest approved list (jan 2007) there are over 60 namely mentioned oils. Let me know if you want a copy.

I've used Mobil 1 on all of my previous cars. Great stuff.
Also oddly enough, I've always used GM Syncromesh transmission fluid in all of my previous manual transmission cars. This is the best transmission fluid (not engine oil) that I've ever used. I've tried several products by Amsoil and Royal Purple put I seem to always end up going to back to Mobil 1 oil and the GM trany fluid.
