My wife took my car in for it's service yesterday and handed over the key. After the BMW SA took it and put it into/onto his key reader, he knew how many km/miles my car had done, how many I drive per week, how much fuel I have in the car, what the engine temperature was and apparently more than that.
Just how much information is stored on there? I wonder if it stores some metrics about how aggressively we drive (and at what speeds) and potentially use that against us if we claim that something that's gone bad should be replaced for free. |

Hmmmmm. Just heard that BMW want ?1,040 for a year's extension to my warranty. That's about $1500. I only have one day to decide. Once it expires (tomorrow) they won't extend it.
Good or bad deal ? I know it's pretty easy to run up a yearly repair bill of $1500 if you're unlucky. I'm tempted to go commando and not have a warranty. Considering that plenty of things aren't covered, it would need me to probably run up to more like $2500 worth of repairs (of which the warranty might cover $1500) before I really break into the threshold of being out of pocket. I've pretty much convinced myself I'll pass. Anyone want to persuade me I shouldn't ? |
Have you considered an after market (third party) warranty company?

For now I'm going to reply back to BMW with "thanks but it's too expensive, I'll pass" and see if they come back with a lower offer. |

I want to consider one, but have no idea where to find one in Germany.

Am... i wonder what IF they know how fast we go.. ?
if they make cars that can't handle it, then it shouldnt be a BMW. |
