With the "white zone" there goes the temperature gauge. So in the event of overheating, how would we know? Will there a warning message popping put the idrive?

This has been asked before but I don't think anyone has answered it. I have to believe there would be a warning message if you hit the danger zone with regards to temperature.

One thing I'll say it that although the moving white bars relate to temperature and decrease as the engine gets up to normal operating temperature, I don't think it's accurate to equate it to the missing coolant temperature gauge. If anything, the white bars are probably more tied to oil temperature than coolant temperature, wouldn't you think?

If it is as computer based as it appears it will warn you and probably shut down. Or just warn you. Not sure.
