As some of you read my previous post about being hit drunk driver on the 29th, it became clear today that my 08 535I will be totaled out now. I go and sign paperwork with my insurance company in the next couple of days that finishes that process, and I now have to move on.

I was really enjoying my new to me 08 535I, and was even starting to contemplate which mods I was going to do to her, even though I was only going to keep it 3 or so years, before trading that one in for a 550I.

Now here is my dilemma, which direction do I look ? Ive read the issues that my 535I where subject too, and I read the arguments between the E60 535I and the 550I's in which one is better, and all the mod and non mods factors involved between the two. Now throw in this redesigned F10, and this hunt is becoming more daunting for me. I'm not going to downgrade in year or model, it will be 08 or newer, and 535I or higher.

I'm only really asking for some honest opinions on the above expressions, from more experienced, and knowledgeable owners and enthusiast.

Thanks for your time
Cheers
Bill

I mean, if money is not a huge factor, obviously, I think just about everyone would tell you to go for F10 550. That's what I'd do if I had to make this decision. If money is a big factor, then get another 2008 535 - they are still really great cars and you'll enjoy finding the exact one you want even more now - after having had one and knowing better what options and packages you definitely don't want to compromise on. Either way, good things will come Good Luck!!!

I have an 08 550i and I love it. I've driven a 335i (not a 535i) and had an e39 M5 and I can tell you that this car is really great when you compare the three engines, the 550i is a really good mix of power and fun. The only thing I wish it had is an LSD.

Enjoy your search!

There are some really good deals out there on 2010 E60 550's. At my dealer today and they only have one 2010 E60 550 left in stock and it is on the floor with a $5,000 off tag hanging off the rearview mirror! I'm quite sure you could negotiate a better deal and if you are in a big market with multiple dealers where the competition is stiff, even better...

i also am torn between the two... though mtech on f10 is a must and it comes out later this year... if money was no object for you i would say a 550 sport/dhp/mtech WITHOUT active steering. The interior of the f10 is superb and the overall exterior is good.

e60 is great too i actually prefer the lci exterior of e60. I would do the mtech 550i without active steering.

it all boils down to what you want and can do financially.

If you do get another e60 ... there is still time to get an f10 in the next 4-5 years... by that time m5 will be out and the mtech probably will change.
