Hi all,

I'm new to this board and I don't even own a E60 (I drive a '05 X5 4.8is and '01 325i). BUT my 73 year old father-in-law has a 2007 550i and I'm sort of 'maintaining' it for him. I have a laptop GT1 and he wants me to scan for error codes. However, when I pop the OBD door, the connector seems different; it's not your usual 16 pin connector. I don't even see pins.

I'm in Manila, Philippines but the car in question is a US model. Can someone verify if a 2007 550i should have a 16 pin OBD2 connector? Pictures will be welcome.

Thanks,
Philip

Mine has the standard OBD2 port. Behind a little flap on the drivers door pillar.

the connector is covered by a protective cover, open the flap and pull the cover off.

Thanks Dandle, so I presume that when you open the little flap under the dash, you already see the port? No other cover for the port? I will try to take a picture of what my port looks like and post it here.

Uh oh, I posted my reply several times and I can't delete them. Mods, please delete.

Anyway, thanks Blood! So what I'm seeing after I open the flap is the protective cover. So, I just grab the cover and pull it off? No locks there or tab to pinch while pulling.
