Why is it that that we in the US can't get the red color in the e60 whereas everyone else can.
The same thing goes for the brushed aluminum interior trim.

Does it have anything to do with the lead based paint laws in the US? 
That is why there are so many bronze, brown, grey, silver colors offered now from what I read.

No, lead containing paints are not used on cars. The lacquer is even water based. Thats why its more sensitive to birds poo and other
contaminations.

BMWNA specs out US cars with many fewer options than the ROW based on local preferences and to keep costs down. It makes us all mad at times, but we pay soooooooooo much less for our cars than any other country. I'll take the small loss of options and the huge price savings every day!!!!
btw, go to bmw.co.uk and do a build. The list of stand-alone options is huge. But they pay almost as much in GBP as we do in USD. It's staggering when you consider that 1 GBP = 0.5 USD!!!
