1- CIP is the version of software you have on your car
2-DMS is the name of the popular tuning/maping company that can re-write the ECU program

Used to be the short name given the version of software running on e60/61/63/64/66/65/70/90/92. BMW no longer calls it by that name, now refering to the set of software as PROGMAN (Program Manager). If you do searches by PROGMAN it is easier as it will take you to current topics relating to software.
