Will come with the HPI, seen specs...
But still I say the facelift will be in Sept '07 (EU MY '08).

Also a 4 litre + 400 hp V8 will be offered for the new M3 -
this also no sooner than '07!
This engine will most likely not be offered for the E60.

yes thats a good point... I'll have to look in to that...

I was actually thinking about the Porsche Cayenne with the Turbo engine.... but it drinks way to much.. :thumbsdown:

The 540 is better in regards to fuel economy...? i hope it is...

If I had a choice b/w 535i and 535d, I'd choose 535d in a heart-beat. Chiptuning the 535d and it'll be like a rocket. I don't know if 535i can be chip-tuned like 535d?

The only think I don't like about M5 is low low-end torque which is very important for around-town driving.

Well the new 530d is going to be a good match for the 540i - so I wouldn't get the 540 expecting a big performance hike. It will sound nicer though - no 2 ways about it - but is that worth the extra fuel cost and faster depreciation.

550i is going to feel much better if you can afford the juice, but the sensible options are really the 530d and 535d.

Yes. It will take a few months for the tuners to work out the re-mapping but there is no doubt about the possibility. The old biturbo 2.7T Audi engine that was in the S4 and A6 2.7T literally gained 100hp from a simple re-map. I had several friends who performed such modifications on their cars. My old car, a modest 1.8T VW (4 cylinder) could gain 50 real hp from a re-map - no intake or exhaust mods.

The 335i/535i cars will be beasts.

Yes, mainly what you state - lighter up front + fuel economy. While I'm still on the fence about how I'd feel about aftermarket tuning if I owned a 535i, there is no denying the fact that it could be made to beat a 550i rather handily with a sub-$1000 investment.

I have always felt, and stated here in these forums that the introduction of a 535i in the US could be a good marketing opportunity - one that could be used to characterize the car as a sportier model - perhaps heralding the introduction of the M-Sport package here in the US. I could certainly imagine some Dinan performance chip offerings, intakes, and exhausts once this hits our shores as well.
no offense but if you tune anything with 1000$ that is impossible in Europe...I doubt but ok let's see. ps. petrol remap is not comperable w diesels, and you wud probably need some more stuff than just a remap will let you know when the engine comes out
