What is BMW assist so when will it be available in the UK? briefly what can you do with it?

 

Not much at this point. If you crash and air bags deploy, BMW Assist will be notified of your location and give you a call. If you cannot answer, police and ambulance are dispatched. Also some concierge benefits. It cannot locate your car unless you either call in or crash. No help with a stolen vehicle.

 

In Germany you can also send data sets for the nav system to your car. You configure the route on the internet and then transmit it to your E60. Also BMW Assist can send data sets to your car, for nav. I've called them to ask for a pharmacy and they not only gave me the address, they sent the nav data set to my car, I just clicked on it and said, set as destination...
They also offer an advanced TMC service and the concierge service basicly does everything what they can do to help you.
Availibilty in the UK ? I don't know...
