well, when I was still on rft's the Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 seemed the best out of the then existing bunch of Bridgestone, Dunlop and Goodyear.

Don't know if anything has changed

A contradiction in terms I'm afraid...

When my tyres were low I looked into this and decided to ditch. Would never go back! I've heard good things about the Goodyear Eagle F1's.

I presume you haven't got staggered wheels? (Style 124's - this limits the options for 275mm rears...)

I've had nearly 2 years and 32000 miles out of the original Goodyear NCT5's and cant fault the ride. I originally test drove an SE which had the 17" rims and runflats and the ride was crap and the steering was lifeless. I actually bought a 530d Sport with the 245/40/18 runflats on and it was light years ahead of the SE's 17" tyres.

After 32,000 miles the rears are just about done with 2mm tread but the fronts still have 5mm.

I have heard so many bad stories about runflats nevertheless all I can say is that my Goodyear NCT 5 RFT's have given me no problem at all. (nor should they at about $500 each ) After a year on them the ride has improved in that one or two annoying characteristics seem to have gone, or perhaps I have just got used to it. Treadwear seems okay at this point, looks like they should last 40 thousand kms which is ordinary but i suppose okay for a performance tyre.

Gone are the days when you got 80,000 kms from a set of Michelins on the old Citroen.
