This is very strange but, the 6 disk changer (flimsy peice of junk :P) is not playing my homemade audio cd's. It doesn't even recognize that there is a cd in the changer. It will play store bought ones and also burned cd'd from like a year ago that I burned and have no idea what software I was using then. But, if I use Roxio 6 or Nero it is not working. If I put the same cd in the in dash it does work (but, doesn't show song name.....but, that is a whole other issue!!!!!!) Any idea's why it can't read my burned cd's? Is it maybe the settings I'm buring with??? I have no idea and frankly I'm getting very frusterated  .

Did you finalize the cd?

Toni 03-02-2006 06:58 AM

UMMMM......no????

Toni 03-02-2006 07:00 AM

OK, I just checked Roxio and there is no finalize cd option???????

BetterMakeWay 03-02-2006 07:02 AM

Nero has it. It has to be there. Without finalization the reading of the audio cd is compromised.

I just looked at Roxio closer and if you choose "disk at once" like I have checked off it automatically finalizes the cd....so, I geuss that's not my problem.????? I don't know what to try next???

what software are you using from them? toast? jam? you need to be sure that the program writes red book standard cds or they may not play in devices other than your pc

Toni 03-02-2006 07:06 AM

ok, excuse the ignorance but, what is toast and jam???? And it did work in my in dash player.

I don't have a copy of Roxio with me so I am not sure exactly how it operates, but it does sound like you are not closing the cd.

First of all make sure you are NOT using drag to disc, but are using the proper roxio cd burner.

Presume you have a 'project' screen where you add tracks to the cd's. From memory when you press burn a dialog box pops up and asks you what settings to use: track at once / finalise options / write speed etc.

Also, unless you've disabled it it normally asks if you want to finalise a disc when you eject.

I don't think this is a car thing - I think you need to fiddle with Roxio and use their 'help' menu.

I have not burned using Roxio for awhile, but I remember a "finalize" was required once you completed getting all your songs on the CD. Now you are using original CD type files and not MP3 right? MP3 will not play on changer.
