As I am trying to decide what to do for wheel/tire mods I realize that these cars look as though they have many different ride heights. Sport vs non sport, eibach vs H&R, etc. To get the proper look, ride height is very important otherwise you can spend thousands of dollars on wheels and be disappointed. I am speaking of all E60's including M5's which have different wheel openings from the others. As a way to measure I simply measure from the ground (flat ground obviously) to the bottom of the drivers door handle (in the middle fore and aft). My new 2008 535i with sport pkg measures 31 3/4". I think this info will be interesting to everyone. I would like to know how a 535i (sport pkg) compares to a 2008 550i sport vs M5 for example. M5's might actually be taller do to larger diameter tire size.

Inquiring minds want to know.

This will be interesting but I think there are a million other factors that may sku the comparisons.
Here's mine as measured from ground up to the bottom of driver door handle at the key hole:
31 5/8" w/ 20" rims (see sizes below), 1/4 tank gas, golf clubs, stroller, and 2 car seats in back.

I know this is a rough way to do it but I'm tired of looking at pictures on this forum and trying to guess what the true height is by looking at the wheel gap.

Thx,

Bob

Non-sport package riding on 18" (standard staggered sizes for 124s-below), 3/4 full tank, nothing else weighty in the car was just a tick under 32", like 31 7/8 or 15/16".

I'd love to know what the height of a stock M5 is. With a taller tire it should be greater than an E60 with sport pkg. Any M5 owners out there?

Not entirely sure of your measurement datum -- mine is 31-1/4 to bottom of door handle, and 31-3/4 to bottom of keyhole. 2004 545i with sport package, 1/2 tank of gas

Bottom of the door handle. Without changing springs your car is pretty low. I wonder if the earlier cars are lower or the springs just sag over time.
