Speaker grill for a center channel speaker. I have one too, even though I dont have L7. Only a guess here, but probably so BMW doesnt have to manufacture two different dashboards. Cost savings

It's a place holder for the L7 center channel ... it has nothin' in it if you don't have L7 ... NM IceyTys got it 1st :)

hmm, I wonder why they would put that there but they dont put the placeholder for the HUD. I wish I had the HUD. wonder what it would take to add it...

'cuz it takes a lot to get HUD ... at least you'll need a HUD specific front glass (among other things) otherwise the HUD will not be properly reflected using std windshield.

I have L7, but there is also a button/knob on the right corner of it. I asked the dealer, and he didn't know what it is was for, and I tried pushing it, but nothing happens. Anybody know what it's for?

its nothing, its just where the speaker has its connection.

That would be the light sensor. Not all have it like the OP.

I have the same thing - th button in the corner, but I don't have L7. If it's a sensor what's it for? My mirror has rain and light sensors as well as the alarm sensor, so what the heck is that one for? :confused: :confused:

I think it's a light angle sensor ... when the light in auto sometime it'll turn on even it's not dark ... the car maybe smart enough to know when to turn on the light around dawn/dusk.
