They do not tell us specifics so we have to ferret out for ourselves. You will only get antedotal input from members at best. So far I have not driven in rain nor have I been out in dusk/dawn or heavy cloud situation to tell you if there is any difference in auto headlight performance. I was ok before.

Cold start issue has been fixed with CIP 21 I started my car up this morning and it was smooth as butter. I cant believe its the same car!

If you guys are having some issues with the 550 definitely tell your SA and get CIP21. My SA didnt have a clue to all my complaints but I hinted that he should check out the latest CIP21 software and the tech said he already knew about it and installed the CIP 21. They took 3 days to install it because it crashed three times during loading and each time takes 5 hours.

Speaking of which I got an X3 as a loaner car. What a piece of crap. I cant believe they charge close to 40k for that thing. It was rough as hell and loud. Wind was leaking into the sunroof and side windows. Steering made me appreciate active steering. I will never buy a BMW without active steering now. For 5 to 10k less you can get so many better SUVs than the X3 for the small SUV market. Suspension was very rough over bumps. Handled ok but nothing to scream about. That SUV is no threat to the X5 which I used to own. Interior space was not big at all.

I recently got CIP 21 installed on my 545i. Here's my perspective:

The CD player still continues to play when the car is shut off. My radio presets had to be redone. Also Bluetooth had to be reconnected.

I did not notice any difference in the HVAC system controls, as whatever setting it was set to prior to turning the car off comes on automatically when you start up the car (whether you pressed "OFF" or not before shutting the car off).

I have not noticed any appreciable change in the active steering / braking.

The adaptive headlights seem to move slower and with less left to right movement then before.

I did inform my service advisor of the cold start issues ... his response was use "Mid-Grade" fuel.

Speaking of cold engine issues, when backing out of the garage/driveway in the morning, I hear all kinds of weird noises. Sounds like loose suspension parts, engine clicking noises, etc. Once car is warmed up, these never come again. Anyone have similar issues? I had the door seals replaced at a previous visit, but I'm wondering if it's from the sunroof seals.

During the drive home from the dealer, I did notice a sense of "power loss". The car did not seem as quick as it was when I dropped it off. At the time, I wasn't sure if this was because I was transitioning from a rental car (that I drove for 2 days) back to my car. But based on other postings on this board, I think it is related to the CIP.

At my next oil change (in a couple of months), I'll complain about the CD issue and hoepfully they install the latest CIP ... again. Maybe all the kinks in the software will be worked out by then

Sorry, info unavailable to us by any means other than dealer. One can guess if you know build date and no changes were made since, but it would be a educated guess only.

iirc, I think only the dealer can.

I have CIP 21 on my 535d and couldn't say I noticed anything better or worse.
