Congrats! It's a fantastic car. Hope to see you on the e90 forums... I also have a 335i cabriolet on order with late April delivery:

Sprakling Graphite
Black Dakota Leather/alum trim
19" 230s
Nav, comfort access, auto with paddles

I will be keeping my 5 though. Reading and researching on the 3 series forums really makes me appreciate the quality of this forum. Best forum out there - autos or other interests.

Congrats to you on a marvelous ride. As to the thoughts of the masses - it doesnt really matter, so long as you are happy with what you bought, and I would guess you're probably ecstatic.

I looked at the 335i, not so much for the coupe or sedan, but as a possibility when the hard-top convertible rolls out this spring. In the end, however, I couldnt justify the size of the car with my own needs. I'm already trying to deal with the diminished size going from a 740iL to the 550i. I just dont think there is any way I could do a 335 with 2 chubby law partners to haul around on occasion, not to mention 3 kids.

The 335i, from what I hear, is a wicked machine. The numbers look amazing (4.9 on the 0-60), and I hear from a colleague that its very close to the most recent M3, with a few more manners.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the hell out of it. I'll be curious to see and hear your thoughts.

To each their own I guess, we all have different needs/wants. I asked my dealer the same question but the other way around when buying my '05 525. The 5er has a tad more room, IMHO looks better, and for those concerned with status - it's not the base model of the brand. Example - You can get a fully loaded Honda Civic nowadays for roughly $30k. I ask the question why you wouldn't get an Accord or spend $2-3k more and get an Acura TL. Everyone has different needs and I can understand both points of view. I drive a Honda s2000 in the summers but most of the year I'm taking clients out where I have 2-4 passengers at any given point and there's no way I'd subject them to the 3-series due to size constraints.

Also, I initially wasn't so concerned with the car's power when shopping for a new vehicle but surprisingly enough I'm very happy with the power in my 525 although I've never driven a 550 (and I hope I never drive a 550 because I'd likely stretch myself too thin and ditch my 525).

Congrats with the purchase I'm sure you'll love it. Post up some pics when you get a chance :thumbsup
My bad, i meant the 328i, not the 5-series. My neighbor next to me has the '06 525i and it's just as fast as my 530i or damn near close. And actually, the 328i wasn't a slouch by any means...in fact...the dealer told me it's nearly identical to the 330i in 0-60 and i thought it felt fast than my 530.

Road and Track tested the 335i 0-60 in 5.0 flat....Edmunds had it at 4.8 seconds. Edmunds felt BMW is "fudging" on the 0-60 numbers in order to create a bigger 0-60 gap when the new M3 comes out. Who knows, but it's fast. Thanks for the comments guys. =)

Its amusing to think BMW might be saying its slower than it is...usually, its the other way around!

Could it be that BMW is afraid of model cannibalization?
Why would you buy a M3 if the 335i is as almost as fast and cheaper, same with 535i and 550i, right?

Yup exactlly... why buy a M3 if the 335 is just as fast or EVEN faster with the very reasonably priced PROcede chip?
