Today I filled up by tires and one of them seems much lower than the others. After driving for a while I got a LOW tire pressure warning. Stopped and looked around and all seemed normal (and it was because I did 200 miles in the car). Ofcourse it does make a little sense because all the car's sensors are doing are comparing the two sides of the car to any movement. What I didn't realise was that the sensor was working both ways - up and down.

it is because like my car yours doesn't have the tpms valves it just ues the abs system to monitor wheel spin and because you cahnge the air pressure which changed the wheel rotation it is telling you have a flat but really all the system knows is that your wheel rotation has changed. All you have to do is go to the idrive and reinitialize the system.

Hey Bruce what year is your car? I had a similar problem with my 07, tire pressure was low so I filled her up and then got TPM error message. Drove around and checked left and right and found that no pressure was lost. Took it into the dealership and they said that I over filled the PSI and it tripped the sensor. So apparently if the TPM light will go off if you have both too little air OR too much air. I think the technician noted that I had around 38psi in one of the tires but the rest was okay, he lowered it to around 35psi and everything went back to normal. Not sure how this works with the 04-05 cars where the TPM sensor is outside of the wheel.

Ofcourse I reinitialised the iDrive warning but this over pressure warning is interesting and I'll have to check with a digital meter if the pressure is over the recommended - I don't trust the old dials in some of the fuel stations.
