Yesterday, without any warning, my iPhone 4 stopped pairing to the car. I went into the bluetooth menu in the iDrive and erased the iPhone from the list, thinking it'll pair again "from scratch". Not so fast. Here's what happens: my iPhone still has the car in its BT devices menu and when I press on it to try to connect, it waits about half a minute, then goes into the "enter code" screen for a split second, and after giving me no time input the code, says "code input timed out" or something like that. Has anyone had this before? What do I do? It's driving me mad that I can't pair them I even tried typing the code really-really fast - before that message pops up - but it just says "incorrect code"... but it cannot be "incorrect", because it is user-selectable and different every time, so... I don't know... I'm on the side of blaming the phone right now, so I'll try to exchange it, if I can't make it work somehow. Think I might have to erase the car from the BT connection in the iPhone somehow, but there's no button to reset BT devices in it - how stupid is that?! If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it!

It' not the car... iPhone 4, iOS 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2 has bluetooth problems. The newly released iOS, 4.1 has a bluetooth fix. My e60 works flawlessly with my jailbroken, unlocked 3gs with iOS 4.0.

I don't have a cradle - I was talking about the wireless bluetooth pairing.

Well, it looks like its "good news" - its not the car's fault, but the phone's. Must be the radio chip, because I've started noticing wi-fi working extremely poorly as well as deteriorating call quality. And by "deteriorating", I really mean "deteriorated" - no one can hear anything I'm saying... and its not the accent Gonna try to exchange the phone in the morning.

Update: loaded the 4.1 s/w on the iPhone nd "forgot" the device in the phone's settings. Paired it again to the car and it works.

The call quality is still sh!t - whether on BT or not. I can hear people perfectly well, but everyone complains they cannot hear me.
