During the last couple of weeks when we've had very grey weather in the UK, my auto lights have quite happily stayed off during the daytime.

Today however, a brilliantly sunny day, they come on and stay on all morning!

I have noticed this a few times before too, and wondered if anybody had any ideas?

BTW they do come on at dusk as normal.

The automatic headlights have a mind of their own and it's a fairly well known issue. Supposedly, some adjustments were made on newer versions of the software...

This is, suprisingly, normal. No software update I've come across yet fixes it fully!

At least they're on when you don't need them rather than the other way around!!!

Keep at eye out and see how many beemers have their lights on... (I spot loads!)

Yes, this happened to me as well. However what I find really useful is that when you drive into a nulti-stories car park, it turn itself on automatically and vise versa when you drive back out to the street during the day. Which is good.

You can get the sensitivity changedby the dealer, I did and they are much better now.

They still come on sometimes in sunlight when the contrast fools the sensors.

Why not use them all the time?

It safer that way!

As others mentioned, you can get your dealer to adjust the sensitivity. I have found that if there is dirt, or something on the windshield, it adversely affect the lights as well. I know, I know, I let my car get dirty once or twice.. haha
