Unhappy

Hi,

I've got a 2004 E60 2.5tdi with webasto with a remote. It worked like a charm last winter. Now it's starting to get cold again in Norway, so I tried to use the remote again.. no response, changed the batterie.. no response. Then I used the iDrive, and found the "Independant Heater" option. When I enable this option, it disables it self within 1-2 seconds... The Independent Ventilation works, but no heating.. Any suggestions?

regards
Thomas

Well, first of all BMW diesels are labelled d not TDI.

Webasto does not start when:
-there is fuel left for less than 50km driving.
-the voltage of the battery is too low.
-Temperature outside is higher then +16 Celsius.

Otherwise the problem is elsewhere. Go visit the local dealer.
Could also be burned fuse.

Did you know, that the factory installed auxilary heater (Webasto) does not pre-heat the engine, only the cabine...

After changing the battery on the remote you need to reinitialize the computer to recognize the remote again!

Also, after three denied attempts the system is shut down and needs to be enabled again (re-initialized).

Sounds like something the that has to be done by the dealer?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but someone PLEASE tell me this aux heater is available on this side of the pond?? Where I am in Canada our winters get down to -30c on a fairly regular basis and an OEM option to heat the cabin of the vehicle would be a welcome addition. I recall seeing this on the BMW Canada website as an option earlier in the year, but it's been removed from the site and I can't seem to get any information on the option or its availability. Heh, it's already bad enough that my 2008 550i doesn't have a heated steering wheel (m-sport package) which I had on my X3 and old E39 -- although I'm hoping a retrofit to a 2009 mtech wheel will solve that problem.

Unfortunately, yes.

The new battery cost me around 50 ?uro, because of the coding needed.

I've looked into it already and it is only available for 220w outlets, in other words no its not available. I've email webasto about it talked to the dealer about it and nothing, I guess they feel North Americans just don't need to be warm in the winter.

Just to clarify, you are talking about the "standalone" remote (with a Mode-, on- and offbutton), not a key?
