Hi, just bought my first Bimmer - a 2005 525D - since my 320. Couldn't afford a 530d yet, but really impressed with this one so far.

When I picked it up, the jets worked fine, but now just a dribble. Have topped it up with fluid, but nothing!!

Does anybody have any ideas of where to stat looking?

TIA

any puddles on the floor when you try to use them?, sounds like the pump has died if not

I've had a similar problem in the past on my E39. There's a filter in the washer bottle to stop crud getting into the motor and which can get blocked. I think access to the washer bottle is from under the wheelarch which will be a pain to get at. If you can check that the filter is clear, then you will be able to tell if it's the motor or not that is the problem.

I had the same problem twice! I disconnected the water hose that runs alongside the top of the engine and then using a foot pump blew air down into the water bottle and pump. Problem solved!

Clogged jets ... try a can of compressed air (the sort sold to clean up PC stuff) and use with the little stray to blow the jets clear from the topside.

Hi,
I have a 525D and had the same problem, the cause was clogged water bottle filter.

20 minute job to fix,i followed this detail from another post

First park car with the wheels locked to left.
This is to get at the screws of the passenger side front wheel arch liner in order to access the washer tank.

Remove at least 2 screws.
Lock wheels to the right

Remove the bottom 2 outermost screws from the wheel arch liner.
I only needed to remove 4 screws in total
Carefully pull the wheel arch liner out, you should see this.

Slide the pump out. If the tank is full water will gush out when you do this.

A rubber grommet with a plastic sieve attached sits directly beneath where you removed the pump.
Remove this very carefully to avoid the sieve falling into the tank.

This grommet was covered with slimy algae. Clean it with a tooth brush ,reverse procedure for assembly
