Washer Fluid (refill)

Hi Guys
how do you fix this problem with my 2005 e60. The windscreen washer fluid always seems to be down. ie the onboard computer always seems to tell me that it needs topping up. There isn't any leaks but what i have noticed is that i need to top with a 1/4 of a litre of screen wash to get to the top of the water reservoir, after the 1/4 litre has finished i get a warning signal for the washer fluid. Surely when there is a 1/4 of a litre left in the reservoir, thats when the warning light should come on. ANY IDEAS GUYS

it should say.....WASHER FLUID, not TRANSMISSION FLUID or GAS
