First of all, to the last poster, my dealer hasn't told me anything....you can tell when your rotors are warped when the brake pedal starts to pulsate along with the steering wheel upon application of the brakes.

I am pretty sure it's my front rotors only. I doubt it's an issue with the brakes, since I've had this same issue on both the 530xi and the 550i. I think I need M5 brakes...or an M5. My brake pads were not replaced on the xi, just the rotors.

As for having them replaced over and over and the concern for $$$, it's under warranty and it's not coming out of my pocket. And I certainly won't have this car past the lease period.

The wheels I have now are aftermarket, but they have more airflow than the 172's do....124-type spokes (A7 Sport Editions).

I do not drive this car hard or constantly ride the brakes. I've made an appt. to have them replaced, so hopefully it's just a coincidence re: both of my cars. I seem to warp rotors on all of my cars for some reason.

And no, I don't wash the car after the rotors have been hot. Who knows. Thanks for all of the suggestions, though.

They vibrate too, but that's a whole separate issue.

Maybe my vibrating winter wheels have caused uneven, vibrating braking...hence the warping?

You may be on to something, Watson. I was just kidding earlier , but I remembered you saying you had to go back to Tire Rack with your winter set-up and thought maybe they had damaged something in the process. I'm no mechanic, so what the hell do I know? GL.

You're relying on your brakes entirely too much -

Seriously, the first thing I'd check is if your tire / wheel guys are using impact wrenches instead of torque wrenches to install your wheels. That is the #1 cause of brake disc 'warping'.

Have you installed aftermarket discs and pads?

Other causes would be hard braking w/o sufficient cool down laps ... are you doing the Pittsburgh Downtown Rally at lunch time ??

Rally for Pitt? I went to PSU!

And the pads and rotors are all OEM. Yeah...they use impact wrenches at my place.
