Last year on my 545, I had a brake booster fail and vacuum hose leak issue. I dropped some coin on this. I sold the car to a friend, but would BMW reimburse me for this repair? It wasnt cheap.

Thoughts?

Wow... this is going to be a lot of vehicles!
It covers 2002-2010 model years!
I wonder how dangerous it is for us to drive our vehicles
and how long it took BMW to take action on this issue.
Maybe BMW should be e-mailing all of us in addition to using
snail mail.

I imagine it would be worth a try to contact BMW and see what options you have. I suppose if the dealer vouches that the repair was required due to the same defect the recall addresses, you may be covered...

Good luck!

It's a "voluntary" recall????

Meaning if I'm not getting a letter then no recalll???

Or they encourage owners to wait until stiff brake pedal develops then bring it in for recall

I think it means "voluntary" as in BMW is choosing to issue the recall instead of some governmental entity forcing them to...

geez, good heads up felix..

But this kinda sucks, I had my car at the dealer yesterday for my drivers side headlight and you'd think the buttheads would mention it then.. Hand out flyers, etc..

I wouldn't blame the buttheads...the news of the recall just broke yesterday. I'm betting the dealers haven't been given any official info yet as to what service has to be performed, etc. By the time BMW sends letters to all the affected owners, the dealers will more than likely be equipped to handle all the fixes...

wonder if this has anything to also do with the stiff brake pedal at start up that some members (including myself) sometimes report. I've read and heard that changing brake vacuum seal/line
