I bought my 2004 530d in Germany about 2 months ago. Now trying to get voice activation going, but its only in GERMAN.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THIS TO ENGLISH? When i press the voice activation on my steering wheel, it starts in german. I would love to have this system working in English.
PLEASE HELP ME !

Hi,
I think you need to change the language settings in the i-drive setup menu. Go to display settings, and scroll right unit you get to languages. This should then change the language of the voice command system.
If you need help translating, I would use a web site like 'babelfish.com' to convert the phrases on the screen from german to english so you know where you are in the menu. (I assume that the menus are in German?).
Hope this helps... good luck!

That's right, only the dealer can change the voice command and/or navigation language...

anyways, i can live without it for now..... untill i have time to upgrade software..
PROBLEM SOLVED!

I use mine all the time for everything.
I only have the use of one arm (right) so using my voice to set stuff up while on the move is pretty important for me!

Alterntiavely try shouting at the voice command in English, but using a foreign accent... normally adopted by (some) Brits when trying to speak a different language!
