My voice activation system worked flawlessly for about a month. I was taking my daughter for her first ride in my car and wanted to show her the voice activation. As soon as I selected it and went to give a command, my typical 17 year old son started to yell incoherent mumbo jumbo. Ever since, the voice activation not only doesn't " understand my commands" but randomly selects whatever he's in the mood for, from navagation to weather band to just about anything he's capable of except what I'm requesting. My questions are: If I kill him will I go to jail, and does he need a shrink or some type of reprogramming?

I dunno - what is the your local law on killing your son? Most places don't allow it without severe penalty (and some places in the States might respond with chemical or electrical force). It seems a bit of a harsh judgement just for fooling the car's computer IMO, but you're his dad and will know what's for the best. I also suspect you may find that child psychologists are quite expensive and cult de-programming runs a fair few dollars/pounds/euros too.

Best just to take the car to your local SA and ask him of a reset is required.

Chris,

I think he meant his "voice command" guy in the car. Not his son.

Even the non-Nav stuff?? We have the lady only for navigation responses, but eveything else (including Navigation address input) is a man's voice.

I have a German fraulein in my bluetooth and she mainly tells me to "abbroch" when I try my German with her

The rest of the car has chosen to communicate with me in English which I have to say I prefer. I guess my grandchildren might get beemers with Polish if they're lucky...

Hey, that's exactly how my 15 year old son reacts! :'(
In my eyes it's obvious what happened.

Your son has infected your system!

Your self-learning(!) voice recognition system has adopted the language of your son. Don't punish him!
Try to learn this very special idiom (that in your ear sounds like mumbo jumbo) and in the future you will understand your car and your son!
Maybe you can borrow some CDs (Snoop Doog, Ice Cube, Eminem etc seems suitable) and practice....Good Luck

Matts
