My Ride: 08 550 Carbon Sport Almost everything factory, but no sound upgrades.
We had two instances of coolant loss two days apart. Had to tow in because of overheat warning.
The first case was solved (???) by replacing cooling coil for hydraulic steering and then they found the expansion tank leaking.
All this having been done, the same symptoms happened again, two days later. We are still waiting for more word from SA. He did phone to report a part on order.
Before I wrote this post I searched for ?coolant? and found many threads and posts that were helpful. Particularly helpful was luigi524, the member with that offensive ?HONK!? avatar! Thanks, my friend.
I noted all this to point out a most valuable feature of the E60.net ? the search function and the experience of the thousands of members.
We also appreciate the help of BMW assist. Mrs. sixcard was drivng on both occasions and they promtly took care of everything (except her first Tanq Tini of the day)

Yes, he will, I think we have all managed to find useful information here - this is a great resource for info about our cars. Yes, Gene and Nerweezy are particularly good sources of info.

Picked up the E60 this afternoon.
They found that the electric fan had been cutting off intermittently. This caused the overheat and loss off coolant.
The fan and the sensor were replaced. The could not say, for sure, that the sensor was fault cause of the fan cut off
They also kept it overnight drove it 20 miles of so.
