Violating Manufacturer's Direction

What are the consequences of violating the manufacturer's "rotation direction arrow" stamped on a tire? Loss of traction? Tire explodes? Tire disintegrates? I have Pilot Plus A/S Sport 275 x 40 x 18 on the rear and am starting to see excessive wear on the inside due to BMW camber setting.
In another thread members discussed some premature wear, on the rear, from the BMW camber. Could reversing the direction of rotation balance the uneven wear on the rear?

Usually the tread is directional to help it shed water when driving in the wet... Changing the direction of rotation would probably affect the handling in poor weather. There would probably also be an increased risk of aquaplaning on any standing water.
Personally I wouldn't risk it just to save a few pennies. I'd be more inclined to try to sort out the cause of the uneven wear.

If your tires are directional (they would have an arrow indicating proper direction) then the best way to rotate them would be to swap the rears (left to right and right to left), however, this would mean having a tire shop swap the wheels on the rims as well since simply moving the tires to the opposite side would make them turn in the wrong direction. It is cheap to do, most tire shops will charge around $10 per wheel for this. This would ensure you wear the tire's inside edge more evenly since you'd be using both edges of the tire and thus get more wear (miles) out of the tires.

-2.2 rear camber factory spec is too much unless I burn rubber in every single turn
Got mine d own to -1.8 w/ stock toe and it's been wearing out evenly.
The handling still feels pretty good too - easier to do sideways

Do not put them on against the directional arrow, it will mess up your wet grip big time and may also make you legally liable in the event of an accident.
