Hi Guys,

I remember someone once posted a link to help decode the VIN. Somehow, the link is no longer accessible. Any ideas on what this number means?

Try this:

My guess is your build would be earlier than Jul04. I am having difficulties to get it to do the check for me at the moment.

NOW it works! Thanks for the link. Yup...mine's 04/04. So does this mean I have the new TCU?

I just tried the decoder and it says I have a 525d, series E60, built 2002/02! My car is an '05 545i. I didn't know they were building E60s in 2002! Anybody know of a VIN decoder that works...??!!

Are you sure you're entering the proper numbers? It the last six characters...

I entered the last 7 digits (that's what it asks for). Since it's only using the last 7 digits, it can't determine the model year, because the VIN uses the 8th to last digit for that--see this site:
