I?ve removed both the resonators and opened the exhaust flap. I don?t like the ?raspy? aspect of the exhaust note?but at the same time I like it more than stock.

In the pics you will see the piece that was removed and the straight pipes that were put in its place. In addition you?ll see the exhaust flap welded open.

Would I do it again?...yes

Note: you only get that raspy note at very high RPM's, it doesn't really come into play for me unless I'm sitting and revving the engine, which I never do.

For some reason i prefer the factory sound than you modified sound.

Hey whom am I to talk? I am a 40yr man with a 525i. I have no taste.

But seriously, I found that sound to give a bit of 'old car' sound to your state of art 545.

OK guys...I still like this more than stock...but I don't like it enough to keep it this way. In the end I think opening the flap and removing the two small resonators is worthwhile from a sound aspect. But with the added deletion of the larger rear resonator it's just a bit too raspy (for me and I think most people).

But that's not a problem...and that was the beauty of this mod...it's easily reversible (via the muffler shop). So I am now either going to simply put the rear resonator back in or, more likely, put them both back in and put the B&B rear section/muffler in.

I'll keep you posted on how things turn out...

Gotta love those muffler shops...always in seedy parts of a town.

Good luck CH7656 and thanks for trying out the mod
