Guys,

I have a problem, my Vibration Damper (Pulley) doesn't turn smoothly and evenly, it makes 8 turnes.
At the dealership they told me It needs replacing, but the guy who I bought it from told me he replaced it,
but with non genuine. Now I have a question. Should I get OEM or aftermarket brand would be ok? (alot of differance in price)
It is part #1 (Vibration damper 11238511371)

Don't let history repeat itself. Just put the stock part back on.

What do you mean "doesn't turn smoothly" ?
And, what does "8 turns" mean ?

My question is how did you determine it is messed up? I can't see how you would know there is something wrong with it. It is attached to the crankshaft. It doesn't turn by itself.

This is probably not necessary, but I will ask it anyway. Are you sure it was installed correctly? The vibration damper (vd) has 9 (nine) holes in it, 8 for bolts and one for a pin that acts as a positive locator for the position of the vd on the hub. The pin must line up with the pin hole for it to sit flat against the hub.

If it was installed correctly, it may have been dropped prior to installation, or was just poorly made (out of balance) in the first place.

I had to remove my vd recently when I changed out the water pump on my 545i. I needed to look up the part number for the 8 bolts that hold the vd to the crankshaft hub (they should be replaced when the vd is removed for service), and noticed the price of the vd. Whoa! Needless to say it was handled with great care and set in a safe place during the procedure!

Since, as the name suggests, it dampens vibrations due to its mass and fine balance, I can't think of any more important component to minimize the stress on your crankshaft and keep the engine running smoothly.

I know $600 hurts, but I strongly suggest you pony up for the real thing!

The termin it doesn't run smoothly and make 8 it turns is that it is out of balance. it doesn't go straight.
BimmerFan, Not sure it was put on properly actually and the bolts whould not have been replaced for sure, that said this is
Diesel so VD has rubber on it so it balances Vibration even more and theirfor harder to make aftermarket.
It does have alot of importance and I've been driving like this
for a While so, I think it's time to check if It's any good and replace it to keep it smooth in there.
