I have to wonder why put all this shit in the car to begin with? Seriously? Why can we not have a simple operating system like that of the E39? It was functional and trouble free. This idrive and software experimentsucks

I'm glad they've got you a decent loan car.

Don't get me wrong - I'm keeping my e60, but I'm also going to find a better dealer. I know they exist and I've had FANTASTIC customer service from BMW in the past.

(especially like the little tins of BMW travel sweets they used to leave on the passenger seat after a service)

Hope your happy when you get it back.

...used to...

You've hit it spot on.

Glovebox torch is no longer standard, and they have even eliminated the plastic covers on the locking wheel nuts!!

Perhaps not the most massively damaging examples of poor service ???

My view on customer service:

1. Ideally I should experience no faults or breakdowns, but this is a bit unrealistic - sh*t happens.
2. If I do experience faults I want someone to take immediate ownership of the problem, understand that it should never have happened in the first place and apologise.
3. If the fault stops me using my car either directly or because it is in for repair I must have the use of an equivalent car until mine is ready. The dealer must also understand and remember that this in itself is an inconvenience and doesn't mean he can keep my car as long as he wants.
4. The faults must be repaired properly and on-time. The dealer must understand that anything else fails the customer twice.
5. All the way through this process I expect to be treated with due courtesy and respect. The dealer has to remember that my car is only with him because the manufacturer he represents has already failed his customer.

I have experienced this with other dealers - but the one I bought my car from just didn't get it - so fine I'll find someone who I know does understand.

I never used the torch and the locking wheelnuts were only ever used by the tyre fitters - so these don't bother me. What does bother me is indifference from dealers who have given up on their customers.

All the work has been done to an excellent standard, everthing works fine & no faults.

Can't wait for the DMS re re-map on Monday & then we'll be all systems go.

Very well summarised needforspeed.

...and customer service is when the dealer gives you a little torch (I DO use it) because the manufacturer is too cheapsh*t

Well done w8, hope it all hangs together. Interested in your (second) DMS results too.

Really,

My annoyance was the fact faults kept developing & that given i'd only owned the car for 5 weeks, the dealer had it in their workshop for 3 of those.

I gave them a last chance to resolve & rectify & they've done me proud, so assuming nothing else goes wrong in the near future, i'm happy again. Things also improved when they swapped my into a better loaner, as i was not happy driving an E90 320ES, but the Black 535D M-Sport belonging to the DP was a much better loaner & i put 700 miles on their 535D this week.

I'm not an unreasonable man, i just expect good/very good customer service & technical service & i feel i now have that.

I certainly hope so. The first service is not due for another 10K miles, so i told them i don't want to see them before then, unless i'm browsing
