Very frustrated BMW owner!
Hello everyone!
I just got a used 2008 535xi for my 16yr old to drive to school. We continue to have issues. I have tried to look them up but there’s never a clear answer.
1. Aux input doesn’t work. We have the correct cable. There seems to be no power to the usb. We attempted to check fuses and there isn’t a fuse issue.
2. The battery compartment was filled with water! I pulled the side plug to drain it but how do I stop it from filling every time it rains?
3. I was checking fuses and forgot which one I pulled. When I went to look up the diagram, there are many more fuses than i have. Now the dash is lit with “electrical malfunction”, “all wheel drive error”, and the wipers won’t turn off.
does anyone have any experience with these? I’m very frustrated and am growing impatient with this car.

OP, For a fuse diagram for your car, look in the storage compartment on the underside of the trunk. Secondly, your drain lines in the sunroof are probably clogged. Also check for water in the spare tire well. There are electronic modules down there, relocate them to left rear of trunk, behind trim panel.
Also here's a good document to help get you up to speed on the e60. " So You Just Bought an e60"

Thanks for the tips. Yes I have a sunroof. But, the water started pouring in when I opened the trunk. There is no water in the spare tire area.

There is a tube connected to the sunroof that often gets blocked and sometimes becomes disconnected under your hoodlining
Either way the water runs down your pillars and can soak your carpet or fill your battery area
I would open your boot and run your hose on your sunroof on your passenger side and see if you see the water running into your battery well
