My E60 525d has started to use coolant, the level can be correct for weeks but suddenly when i go to start the car i will get a
warning message telling me that coolant level is low and it will usually take up to 1/2 litre of coolant.

The coolant on my 530i went down too and I couldn't figure it out. The first time I took it to the dealer, they said they couldn't find the problem. The second time, they found that there was a small hairline crack on the radiator causing the leak. Good luck.

I had a hairline crack in the coolant reservoir and radiator on a previous BMW model.
