How does a tracking device help you from getting the contents of the trunk stolen while your car is under control of a valet?

I think you were still talking about:
On a side note, there are welll-known attacks on the security of even modern cars - a car's bus is like an unsecured network with no crypto or passwords - one can jack into the bus from an exterior rearview mirror and unlock the doors, start the car, etc. if you have the right knowledge.

No, it doesn't help in that case. But you know about it and secure the things in your trunk... Well, you should...

I would put my stuff in a locked case and leave it in there. Somebody who carries a laptop will not be looking for the stuff in your trunk, he will be looking for the car...

Mercedes has BMW beat when it comes to Valet key convenience.

They put the metal valet key right inside the regular key. Just push it out like a freaking Swiss Army Knife.

Pretty darned cool, if you ask me.

Yup. It took them a couple iterations to improve it but they clearly have a great design...
