Vacation for 2 weeks

Hey all,

So my gf and I are going to Greece next month and my e60 will be sitting for 2 weeks. Would it be smart to disconnect the battery during this time ?

Sitting two weeks will be fine without disconnecting battery. Depending on the state of the battery, however, you might need a boost to start the car. I never have and I have left the car untouched for 3 weeks, sometimes.

Envy your trip to Greece!

Salut.

It may pay you to invest in an inexpensive battery tender to give it a trickle charge while it sits. (That may not be possible if you're leaving it at the airport for instance.) I personally have left mine for that long without a problem, but it may depend on the state of your battery as to how well it fares.

I have a 10 w solar panel hooked up to the connections in the engine compartment in order to "trickle" charge the battery when the car is left outdoors.

Smart idea!

Hey all, thanks for the replies! Battery is about 2-3 months old. It's a 950CCA AGM battery and I'll be leaving the car parked in my drive way.
Would it hurt to disconnect it if I wasn't considering a tender?

I wouldn't disconnect it. It might open up a whole can of worms because of the myriad of electronics associated with these cars. If the battery is new, you should be fine leaving it for two weeks. Enjoy your trip!

I left untouched e60 for 2 weeks with battery was not a problem. Recently I left e60 untouched for 2 month without a battery, and its extremely hard to turn on the engine. Need 3 minutes to turn on car, more than 10 cranks. No fuel, no fire, scan the engines, got intake cam and exhaust camshaft fault. Delete the fault and start engine again and it was turn on after 2 cranks.

Thanks everyone for the peace of mind. I'll be leaving it as it is.
