i wonder how the IS-F would fare against a juicebox 535...
I think the IS-F would still win.

+1 for 545's still rocking and rolling. I frequently go out "just for the drive". Whenever the wife mentions we forgot to get something while we were out earlier I'm there with "oh, I'll go get one - na, you don't need to come (and nag me for max-speed launches all the time)" .... and I don't even have a SprintBooster
Ah so it's not just me!

You beat me to it... The LSD makes both tires break loose, not one

However I think my wheel and tire set up is what makes the difference, I have BBS LM light weight forged wheels and non run flat tires. That takes a ton of weight off each wheel vs the OEM wheels with those black rocks that BMW calls tires (Dunlop Sport Run Flats - Hate those tires!!!). The big reduction in unsprung weight combined with the LSD really does make the car faster.

What good is having a motor with mountains of torque if you can't use it?

Quaife LSD...in on my wish list!

Keep it. Just b/c you don't need 4 doors, doesn't mean it doesn't come in handy from time to time. Plus you really love the car, so getting anything else would be a waste of money.

For a little more you can get a 996 turbo.

Not rich, bought my 545i used as a CPO. I can't swing $65k for a new car, just can't do it.

Besides, I worked my way up.. Started with a 325xi, had a 525i then a an M3 and now my 545i and a ton of cars before I moved up to BMW. Like I tell my son, if you get your dream car when your young what do you have to look forward too/work towards (plus you might kill yourself)... Work your way up, you'll get there...

I still lust after an M3 but I'm not in the position to spend that kind of money.

Other than the M3 I can't think of any car that I want more than my 545 that I can remotely afford. The V8 5er with sport package is a hell of car. I have no problem spinning the tires and enjoy watching the stability control work to keep me straight as I launch out of side streets onto main roads. Loads of fun
For me it isn't an issue of $$$ - it's more an issue of practicality. The 5er simply fits my lifestyle, being married with 2 boys I can't raelistically consider the M3 a family car and I love ALL M cars, but for ti will be M5 or nothing. I love my 530, decent power, great fuel economy, and can easily handle as well or better than anything you're likely to meet on the street (unless of course you happen to live where there are nothing but Ferraris, Porsche's, and LAmbos).
I do really like the V-8 cars for their torque and HP, but for me the next step will undoubtedly be an M5.
