Waiting for trunkopener button from Hobi :)
Well it is cool to be one of the first to have V17.0 (16.2 was the last one).
Advantages:
Very fast startup
Perspective view
More detailed maps (somehow)
no more: Local-1, Local-2, Local-3 for the music stations but names (dutch problem).
Need to find out the rest.
Disadvantages:
No Dutch Menu
No Dutch Voice for the Navlady
No English voice recognition but still german.
They fiddled around with the settings of my car but when I had a Dutch menu my voice recognition stopped working.
I'm gonna call Mhoutman because with his 16.2 upload everything seems to work in the way I want to have it.. Maybe it's a V17.0 bug???

Yes.. Shifting is much smoother and in D mode the accelerator pedal is less aggressive.
Servotronic system is more noticable for me.
I find that the car steers lighter at low speeds. But this could also be due to the fact that I drove a 316i loaner for two days and got used to the normal steeringsystem..

Will report on any noticable changes. Startup does seem a bit faster (business navigation).

Dennis, voice in English has to be specifically recoded. I called the serviceman from mhoutman, it is not just a matter of software update, there is a procedure to be followed. I am going to get v17 next Friday in Aachen ( BMW Kohl ) - they said they know how to get the voice in English as well. Can't wait for it.

Now that v17.0 is available in Europe, does that mean its also now available in North America? If not, how long typically does it take to make its way over?

Cool.... hey do you guys think my car will have the updated version? My car is currently in the "paint shop" with estimated completion date of May 30th, 2005 and delivery by June 20th, 2005. This is a US car....any info, anyone?

I just had my new 535dAt by the BMW dealer. One more benefit with 17.x is that the problem with automatic gearbox and converter breaking down on some 530dAs is now fixed. The bug was that the pressure for the turbine was too low.
Have anyone had any problems with Advanced AC that it only comes heat up and down if you close the middle section manually?
