I just dropped my car off for a 6000 mile oil change. No V15 available yet. They say it will be there in January. They also mentioned a second emissions recall on the V8s which involves re-programming the computer (DME). I told them to hold off untill they could couple it with a software upgrade. I will wait now until 15.X before doing it. I want RDS back and the radio muting problem fixed.

V15 is being tested through a few dealers before its release which is expected in January. They have a recall for the V8s which I declined today. So I can get the update anytime its available. Heck I might even skip V15.0 and get something later. |

I swapped him the software fix for the V710 phone for inside scoop and first shot at upgrades. I'll try to get him to join this forum. He is the guy who told me that my V15 upgrade wasn't much, but 15.2 will probably be. |

BMW's got the version naming convention all wrong. A number change from v.14 to v.15 should include new major features. Bug fixes are decimal changes like from 15.0 to 15.2. Just follow the Microsoft's naming convention and use incremental updates instead of reloading the whole thing.
I would love to hook up my computer via bluetooth, WIFI or USB to my 545i and perform software updates via TFTP (like updating Cisco routers) myself instead of the dealer's technician. Japanese car manufactures will have remote diagnostic and software update via WIFI or bluetooth in the near future. |
i just came back from my dealer and talked to the tech. believe it or not, he told me my dealer is still using 13.3 :blink: :wacko:.
