My Ride: 2015 535D M Sport
Another question you may need to answer is when could you get the M3 delivered vs. the 550? Aren't they going to be in short supply for quite some time? And if so, you may have to pay a huge premium or at least pay full list for it. The 550i might end up costing you less, especially if you do ED, provided you can't wait for a new car until 2009.

I had to get rid of my 06 M3 becasue the clutch gave me back problems. I have an 05 545i sport now which is a great car but it's not an M and has nowhere near the invlovement. The M's are really special and I am already researching 4 door M3's with paddle shift of course...

Get the new M3 sedan, it would be a much more involving car.
I knew this question would come up, when I saw the rather good pricing of the new M3.

I noticed today that you could configure the new M3 on the USA site - so I did
Please realize that I had a 97 E36 M3 sedan and loved that car, then an 01 M5 and also loved that car - larger, more power etc. However, I just have not been able to bring myself to spend $90k + for a new E60 M5 and was probably going to get a new 550i.
Then this.....So, as of today I am seriously considering the M3 sedan as a replacement for my 545i.
What is interesting in the M3 Sedan would be $3,875 cheaper than a replacement 550i configured my way -
Decisions, decisions...
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Below it what I configured.

I'm actually caught in a similar dilemma is the M3 a good alternative to the 550i. However, having also considered a 911 as an alternative I believe that the M3 is a good balance. Its a more involved ride, according to reviews, than a 5. Better handling because its smaller, M suspension etc. But then you run the risk of falling into the M3 category of youths who buy it just to race etc. Aside from all that the M3 is a very acceptable alternative to the 550 size not being a factor of course. Just my $.02
